Biotechnology Sugarcane Seed Development Monnoo seeds Pvt. Ltd. (MSPL) initiated its seeds business in 2001 with special emphasis on Biotechnology. MSPL has established the largest Biotechnology laboratory in the private sector in Pakistan. MSPL specializes in the micro-propagation of sugarcane, potato banana and horticulture plants. Sugarcane sets for planting, obtained from plants, developed earlier through micro-propagation through tissue culture, properly packed and treated are provided to the customers. These sugarcane sets, demonstrate better germination and vigor, because of being disease free, improving yields and sugar recovery. Seed sets of popular varieties of sugarcane grown in Pakistan are available and in near future seeds of new varieties will also be available. Virus free seed of potato is being developed and would be available for sale by year 2004. In addition to the seeds developed through tissue culture, good quality seeds of wheat, paddy and cotton produced conventionally are also available. This exceptional height of sugarcane and seed set is obtained from tissue culture. The plot of this can yielded 220 Tones per hector.

Gojra Samundri Sugar Mills Limited

Gojra Samundri Sugar Mills Limited (GSSML), a public limited company, was originally incorporated by the Punjab Industrial Development Board on 26th November, 1976. The project was disinvested to the Monnoo Group of Industries after its major installation and before going into production in the year 1980-81. The management of the company was transferred to its present owners in November 1980. Commercial operations commenced during the cane-crushing season of 1980-81. At that time GSSML had an average crushing capability of 2,000 tonnes per day, employing the defectation-Remelt sulphitation Process. The present crushing capacity of the mill is 3500 tonnes per day. The company is planning to further increase the capacity.
